Soccer struggles and triumphs

Dalek played soccer this fall for the first time. He had his share of ups and downs with the game. One day he would love it and the next day he would hate it. The first couple of games he had fun and tried hard then the rest of the season he would lay on the ground or just walk around until the very last game. He said he had a hard time because the other boys went too hard on him. He doesn't get to practice as much as some of them do. On the day of the final game I talked to him about just having fun and not caring about if he got to kick the ball or make a goal. I told him to turn it into a game that he would like. He decided to do just that and had a blast. He didn't make a goal but he did kick the ball a lot more and didn't lay down on the field once. He didn't mind coming out when it was someone else's turn to play. (Dandelions are a ton of fun for a five year old.) He was so excited to get the medal at the end and to get a treat. He was very kind and shared his treat with his baby sister. Good Job, Dalek! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you.
